My mp3 cds which play in the car can be burned as folders, thus making searching for particular tracks a lot easier than skipping through a whole disc.
My problem is my disc suddenly lost all folders and tracks where moved automatically to one folder.
I brought the disc into the house and put in PC expecting to see all 6 folders and assumed it was the car mp3 player that was faulty but the folders had all gone.
This was a CD-R which I would have thought once burned could not be altered.
Any idea how this might have happened.?

TBH, Lona, no. If it had lost all the data I could understand it, but to lose the folders yet keep the tracks is weird, almost as if your car player actually has recording ability.

Have you been at the merlot again Lona ::)

It couldn't be anything to do with the disc not being finalised, could it Sandra? (Yes, I am clutching at straws... :))

Would have still shown as folders on the pc Rik.
The only thing I can think of is if shes burned it as a multisession and somehow she has burned it in folders on one session and another with no folders later and its only picking up the no folders version.
Lona can you see the total used space on the CD and compare it to what you get if you select all the files you can see and go to properties and see if the size is the same.

First off I only burned disc once and not as a multi session. Disc played fine all the time we were away on holiday. The only other thing that I can think of is we played a regular cd in the car and it was after that the recorded cd lost it's folders.
I thought the pc would show up the folders but it didn't and that's what I find baffling.

Are you sure your not confusing it with a different disc? When I have a bunch of cdrs together its easy for me to get them mixed up.
Is it possible there is a scratch or a smudge on the disc that is keeping the computer and cd player from reading the disk properly?
-
I'm not getting it confused with another disc and I can't see it being dirty or smudged as it was a brand new disc.
I must read up the car mp3 manual to read trouble shooting as I am absolutely baffled by this problem. I fully expected to stick it in the PC and see all the folders as in the original recording.

Please keep us posted, Lona, as at the moment I have this down as a 'deus ex machina'. ???

Can we be sure anymore, Sandra?? ;)

Well she did go to Wales the other week so she may have met up with that old Cardiff witch Serenity and been converted to the dark side :dunno:

I've got the right Car for sure, Simon. It's the new Honda civic. The petrol cap has a mind of it's own along with the door handles, so perhaps the Mp3 player has also. :ack:

Did your BMW become too fast for you Lona? ;D
