Title: Report: Blu-ray kicking HD-DVD butt in Europe
Post by: Clive on November 27, 2007, 22:59
Everyone loves high-definition 1080p. But Europeans prefer Blu-ray over rival HD-DVD according to new sales data.

Blu-ray movie format sold over 1 million copies this year, holding  73 percent of all HD movie discs sold, according to Media Control Gfk International. That means HD-DVD only has the remaining 27 percent.

So what were the highing selling Blu-ray movies you might wonder? 300, Spider-Man 3 and Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End.

The Sony Playstation 3 has fueled some sales, as the system comes with Blu-ray disc player.

The rivalry continues as HD-DVD player prices are dropping like flies whereas Blu-ray players still maintain a relatively higher price tag.
