I think I have mentioned the Kartoo (http://www.kartoo.com) metasearch site before (posibly in another place :o ). It's worth mentioning again though, as it has been updated to version 2 :)
Kartoo provides a different slant on searching for a web site. Because it is written in Flash, it is graphically rich and slightly quirky but manages to be pretty accurate.
Like a normal search engine, you type in keywords for the thing you are looking for. But when you press enter, Kartoo goes off and searches a selection of other search engines for your keywords and presents the results in a graphical form.
You have to use it to see what I mean ;)

No good for my eyesight Adept. I can't read the results on the new version. ;D
-
It didn't find us either, so it must be crap! :P ;D ;D
-
Clive - it has zoom function for old fogeys ;D
Simon - Try putting in "Adept Bat69". You'll be amused by the result ;) ;)
-
Oh yes, so it does! ;D I can see for myself that it's a load of rubbish now. It doesn't even show pc-pals! Google finds it every time for me when I want to log in.

Of course it does! ::) Time for a visit to SpecSavers Clive?

There is something definitely very fishy about Kartoo! One of the results it threw up was for a very obscure band forum I was talking on recently. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the ActiveX applet was not only allowing Flash, but looking through your browser cache, too!
I hope I'm wrong. :o

No I found that one this afternoon Rod, whilst looking at various other search engines ;)
Since Kartoo is a metasearch engine, it looks at various engines to compile the results. Strangely enough, it doesn't use Google. But I suppose it doesn't matter, since nearly every other search engine uses Google's data anyway :)

Advance, attack, anihilate, exterminate

Now those keywords bring up some very interesting sites on Kartoo ;) ;D

The zoom feature is useless because .. well because it is. The Bible says "Thou shalt not worship graven images. There is only one search engine, the Lord thy Google". Kartoo is a graven image and therefore is an abomination in the face of Google.
-
What I find spooky, is that my search was for "PC-Pals", yet that phrase doesn't appear in the tags of the recently visited, but completely unrelated, site that was returned in the results. It does, however appear in my cache. Like I say: 'fishy'. 8)

I think you must be too used to your plasma TV. If the image doen't look ten feet wide its too small ;) ;D
I'm really going to have to pay another visit to knock you into shape Clive. We can't have you finding religion at this late stage in your life, whatever next - Communism?
Rodders - do you think Kartoo may have matched on the email address you used on that post - rodders@pc-pals.com? ::)
-
Oh yeah! *duh!* :-[

:pmsl:

Well, how else can we plug, without getting kicked! ;D
