alot of bold stuff appears orange? any help please :( ohh and merry crimbo!
-
Hi Welshy, and :xmas: to you too!
I know you are using Firefox, but I think this might still work. Go into Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options, and on the General tab, click the Colours button. You can either change the colours to what you want, i.e. for Unvisited Links, or tick the box to select Windows Colours.
Let us know if that helps!
-
It's not just firefox it happens on, like the bold text of my firewall pop ups etc :(
-
So is it all bold text then? ??? Are you using a theme with Vista, or just the default one? Try right clicking an empty area on the Desktop > Personalise and you can change various colour settings in there.
-
Noo lol, just saying it's not just firefox.
(https://www.pc-pals.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg338.imageshack.us%2Fimg338%2F6793%2F38694312uu6.jpg&hash=560e6563eba2d7e0fe185a166eb304c4ce1165d5) (http://imageshack.us)
see the bold text on my firewall as well :l and no I'm using XP and it's a fresh install on a new pc i built.
-
Have you checked the theme settings? (Right-click on a blank area of the screen, Properties > Appearance > Advanced.)
-
Yup
-
Are there any updates available for the video driver?
-
I'm pretty certain it's a theme or display setting. Can't think what else it could be! :dunno:
-
Welshy says he's checked the theme setting, Simon. As it's only text, I'm not sure it could be a display issue? All I could then think of was display driver, or possibly some weird fault in the cable/interface, but again I would expect to see signs in more than text.
-
I have found that some of the settings in Display Properties > Appearance > Advanced can alter odd things unexpectedly. That was the only reasoning behind my theory.
-
Oh, I agree with you, but if it's been eliminated, we're looking for something else - I'm just not sure what. Cleartype might be the cause if it only appeared on the screen, but not the screen grab, but it doesn't appear to be that. :(
-
I've checked all of appearance :( also it's a fresh install of XP with all new parts + drivers, also another problem has arrived, if i play games on full out settings after 10 mins the screen starts to ripple ???
-
Is the graphics card getting enough power and is its fan working correctly?
-
Fan seems fine, and it's 450 PSU
-
Have you tried the computer with a different monitor to see if that makes any difference? :)
-
Not got another one :(, but i'm able to screenshot the text, which means it's not the monitor output?
-
I'd agree with you, Welshy. The grab is recording the numbers from the video driver.
-
Another frustrating this is the screen kinda ripples, or the text looks flickery after i play a game for so long :bawl:
-
the flickering could be due to a wrong frequency setting between the monitor and the graphics card... worth checking that you are using a compatible mode for your monitor.
-
It's a LCD monitor, so it's 60hz + I'm using a new ati HD card, so yer all's compatible :(
-
That brings me back to fan or PSU. What else are you running in the box?
-
PSU - 450.
2 Case Fans.
Ati HD Card
Intel CPU
Temps are fine, case is around 25, and cpu is 35 ish on load, and GFX is about 79 on load (34 idle)
-
How many HDs, optical drives etc? Is there an additional power connector on the graphics card?
-
2 HDD's 1 floppy, ye there is a 6 pin connected to it, the text is wierd now, as it's orange, and sometimes if i say scroll a website down, and back up its blue? lol and some times mixed :S
-
Can you try the card in a different machine? It sounds faulty to me.
-
What is the make and model of the video card. Post it so we can see if anyone else has had a similar problem. Also, sometimes when you install a video card not all the connectors make contact. You can reseat the video card and sometimes that clears up issues like this. To reseat the card just take it out and put it back in.
-
ati hd 3850 card it's gigabyte i think, don't quote me on it lol
-
nvm sorted it.
-
nvm?
-
nvm?
You young 'uns dont know anything do you ;D
NVM = NeVer Mind
-
well I thought that might be the case, but wasn't sure.
How did you sort it in the end?
-
Sorry for late replies, I've been away with work all week then had the dreaded flu  I used the latest drivers when I installed the card as it was new, (7.12) i was told it's rare but it has happened that 7.12 caused that particular error, so i rolled back to 7.11 and sorted :P cheers for the help! Oh as for the screen like ripple etc, the manufacture told me to rma it, i did and that's sorted now, they said it was screen tearing and corruption due to a fault card!
