Help :)
I back up all my DVD files to an USB external hard drive, on looking at the files in the external hard drive there is nothing attached to them, I have used them before so I know they used to work but I can't remember if I have changed any settings or if some thing else has happened. when I click on any off them I get the message. I wonder if I have lost codecs or some thing.

Have you tried reassociating them by clicking the second button, and then browsing to whatever your DVD player is, Terry?
-
Thanks Si, I have just re associated them with WMP, although that works, why has it changed? I can't remember changing anything.
-
It's Windows, Terry, you don't need to change anything! ;D
But seriously, I have no idea, unless the backup did something to the file names. :dunno:
-
Do you have any DvDs backed Up? if you do can you tell me what files they are associated with? please.
-
Hi, Terry.
Perhaps this link (http://www.fileinfo.net/extension/bup) might throw some light on it.
-
Thanks Dave.. still confused though  why all of a sudden I have lost the capability to play dvds on my pc from these files.
Ps sorry it took so long to come back .. needed a pint or 3 ;D

I usually play my video files of most formats in VLC.
A DVD file structure usually consists of a collection of BUP, INF and VOB.
Its the VOB files that carry the audio and video and can be played individually, directly on a pc by themselves.
The BUP and INF files tell the DVD player in which order to play the VOBs.
This is similar to image files that come as Bin and Cue files.
The data is in the Bin file but the Cue file tells it how to be burned in order to reconstruct the original CD or DVD.

That went way way over my head
I have played DvDs ever since I have had Vista, now all of a sudden it's stopped working with the picture showings this file is not being recognised.
