Title: Internet connection question
Post by: daveeb on January 20, 2008, 19:06
Howdy folks

I have a pc attached via ethernet cable to my wireless router.  The pc also has a wireless card in it so if i were to enable the wireless card which connection would the pc use.  Obviously i could unplug the cable and then any connection would be down to the wireless card but i just wondered if windows detects all active connections then uses the fastest.  :dunno:

What I do Dave, is disable my wireless card when on main pc and then I know it's using the ethernet connection. I like to use the simplest of methods. :)

I've found that the answer seems to be dependent on the router.

Yes
I've found that the answer seems to be dependent on the router.

I agree, I don't think one router will give out two different ip address to the same machine. I know you can have multiple connections between two different routers. An example would be your home ethernet connection and your neighbor's wireless. You have to specify in the network properties which connection you want to use for what though.
