Obviously not enough to keep the link working! ::) :)x
-
:huh3: Is this a Firefox thing Simon? Works fine in Avant. 8-)
-
cool
-
I'm still getting connection time outs. Oh well, I'll try it tomorrow. :)
-
That will be your crappy ISP Simon. You need to change to a proper one such as BTInternet where you can get a blistering 474KBs connection yet only have to pay for 8Mbs.
-
Works for me on the same wonderful ISP. I blame Simon's crappy router.
-
Let's just blame crappy Simon instead. ;D
-
I didn't like to, Clive. ;)
-
Must have been my crappy lappy - works fine now, but... :worthit:
-
 My speed has now gone up to 274 Kbs. I told you BT would see me alright! ;D
-
They saw you coming alright! :)x
-
Yet another phone call to the sub-continent I suppose. ::)
-
Ask for your MAC while you're there, Clive. :)
-
He's on an 18 month ball and chain, Rik. :(
-
Ah! Not something I'd sign up to. :(
-
I think it was by stealth on their part, rather than intent on his. Clive will explain. :)
-
I hate ISPs that do that. :(
-
:smirks: My speed has now gone up to 160Kbs. I've phoned BT to congratulate them and twice spoken to nice people on the sub continent who have assured me that they will take steps.
-
Well, the group is finished here after all. ;)
-

Yes, as many and as far away as possible! ;D
-
They can't get much further than the sub-continent Simon! ;D They are now sending an engineer out tomorrow afternoon. The nice Indian lady assures me I will be "very satisfied".
-
Possibly with the fact that he/she keeps the appointment. ':|
-
My expectations are very low Rik.
-
I'd gathered that from your choice of ISP, Clive. ;)
-
:haha:

So the BT engineer called and plugged his router and laptop into my BB connection. He's getting 6.5 Mb and insists there are no faults. He thinks the BT Home Hub router might be faulty so I now have to wait for BTInternet to call me.
-
So, he actually came into your home, and plugged his gear into your usual connection point, yes? Presumably, if it is a router fault, they supplied it, so they should replace it for no charge.
-
Usually, a BT engineer would connect at the test socket, so if he did that, it would pay you, Clive to try the same with the Homehub...
-
Yes, BT supplied the router so they will have to replace it. The engineer used the normal BB socket for his test, not the test socket hidden behind. What is the purpose of that socket anyway?? :dunno:
So, being impatient, I phoned the 0808 number to inform them that my router was faulty but they have to wait for the engineer's report. They say that they "have a team of experts wortking on my problem right now and they will get back to me". I'm glad I have held my faith in these most excellent people because my satisfaction will know no bounds.
-
When you remove the faceplate to get at the test socket, Clive, you disconnect any internal wiring in the house, and go straight to the exchange pair. If it works there, BT will blame your equipment/wiring and walk away. As you're a BT retail customer, though, they have to sort it for you. :)
-
Thanks for the explanation Rik. Hadn't realised that before. My new found best friend from India phoned to say I will be the proud owner of a brand new Home Hub within 48 hours. He promises I will be very satisfied with it.
-
At least you seem to be getting somewhere, Clive. Hope the new hub works OK! 8-)
-
Strangely, I am now on 0.8 Mb. What a difference that makes! Obviously they've tweaked something at the exchange again.
