It is convincing, and if I was starting out afresh, or had a spare computer just to play with, I would do it.  The trouble is, I have 6 years of files and software all based on Windows, which wouldn't be fully compatible with Linux, so to go to all the trouble of getting to know it, when I could never actually use it day to day, seems less than worthwhile.   :-\

Simon, you could run it in Virtual Box - http://www.virtualbox.org/ - basically a virtual machine.. this would allow you to play with linux installed under windows or vice versa... I'm actually moving my home machine completely to linux (ubuntu to be precise) over the next week and run windows inside linux this way.

I have a lot of fun to get in before we become an Islamic state.  I want to have pleasant memories while my head is being cut off.  Oh - and for the 15 seconds afterwards while, in its severed state, it is still alive.  (apparently)  :o
