Very sad indeed.  I was a big fan of Bo Diddley and saw him on stage a number of times
- usually with other Chess artistes such as Chuck Berry, Howlin' Wolf and Sonny Boy Williamson.  He would always perform with the DUCHESS (http://www.spectropop.com/remembers/DuchessObit.htm) who died very recently.

He was also a big influence on many others including, of course, Buddy Holly.

Yes, Buddy Holly unashamedly stole Bo Diddley's trademark rhythm using maracas.  Several of the obituaries I've read claim it to be a rumba beat but I would dispute that!

Before my time, but he was a great influence, and I am sure will be sadly missed.

Not like any rumba I've ever danced, Clive. :)
