Yes, that's why I have disabled the "link scanner" in AVG. I noticed this as soon as I installed V8, it was taking ages to open a web page.
Double Left click on the AVG icon in the bottom toolbar, it brings up the "Overview" page. Double left click on the "link scanner" enables you to untick the box "Enable AVG search-Shield"

Carried this out and Im fine with it.do you get a warning that you may not be protected and a red warning on the shield ?

Yes Dave, if you look at the AVG icon on the bottom left hand of your toolbar, it has lost it's AVG colours, and has a red ring with an explanation mark in it. That's just telling you....all is not functioning as AVG intended......in this case all is running but the "link scanner"

:thanks: could be me but it seems faster would explain a lot as the speed was ok to the router and I had suspected the security stuff.. :thumbs:

Well 5 hours later and Im still going fast and furious and have gained some speed :thumbs:

I've disabled mine too. It's a brilliant tweak! 8-)
