Post by: Camstop on March 19, 2003, 11:55
Since installing windows xp pro....when i shutdown windows my pc is still running and i have to manually hold in the pc on/off button for 5 secs to switch off....

This is annoying... >:( as with previous versions of windows when you click close windows the whole pc switched off....

Think i've had this problem before on an other pc..but i cant remember how to change it to switch off from the mouse.....

Thanks for any help.... ;)

I believe this is something to do with the power management settings on your PC not being detected properly by Windows XP.

I'm pretty sure there is a MS Knowledgebase article with a remedy, but I can't find it at the moment. Please wait ... ;) ;D

Was just gonna say, right click on your desktop click properties, goto screensaver and power. Click on APM and turn it on.

Was just gonna say that but once again im too bloomin late.
