Title: Memory Key
Post by: Michelle on November 26, 2008, 21:37
Hi all,

I've gone and broke my memory key - I guess it was because i didn't "stop" it on a pc at work, as i didn't see the function....... I'm sure I logged off but I may not have shut down the Pc.  :bawl:

Anyway when I try to open it is now says "Not formatted blah blah ... "  ???

So.....

Does anyone know of a good recovery programme to see if i can recover any items from it?  There seems to be loads around but I can't see any with recomendations..... and some look a bit dodgy.

I tried PC Inspector but it only saves picture files, and it said i couldn't find any JPG which i'm sure there must be some on there, but its other docs i need like word.

Anyway hope to hear from you soon, thanks again

i bet you would be able to get to the data if you could use a linux machine on it... probably not much help though. hmmm.

The first question is, does the device get detected properly? i.e. there are no errors? Can you try it on the same machine? Just some thoughts of things that have worked before.

Not sure if it works with memory sticks, but you could try Recuva (http://www.recuva.com/), Michelle.  It's by the same people who make CCleaner.  :)
