Title: Getting into space by broomstick

I thought this is actually a real creative idea. I don't know how practical it is. Personally, I think the actual shaft would need to remain as taunt as possible to reduce stress, but then again i'm no engineer.

This has been mooted for many years and I would not be surprised if it comes to pass.
