Hi All,
Has anyone here had any experience with a disappearing Windows XP userid? My neighbour came around the other day and (after letting his daughter use his id) has discovered that his userid now no longer appears on the welcome screen. I haven't had a chance to look at the machine yet, but was curious to ask if this is a well known phenomenon or not?
Thanks
Martin ...

I've not seen it, Martin, but I rarely let others near my machines. ;) Welcome to Pals.

Does the machine have multiple accounts, Martin? If not, I'm just wondering if the requirement to select user ID on start up has been deactivated?
If the machine does have multiple users, do the other user IDs show up?
-
I believe it has multiple accounts and that the others show up but can't be sure as I've not got hold of the machine yet.
Sounds like I need to start at the beginning with the diags then ;D
Many thanks chaps.

Come back to us if you need more help, Martin. :)

Hi Martin and :welcome: I see that you have found my hiding place ;D
I wonder if shes changed the way that account works while shes been logged on, or even changed accounts and deleted his ?
-
I came across someone who had posted something similar, this was the way they fixed their problem, maybe it will work in this case too ?
Under user accounts in control panel, turn off "Use the welcome
screen" and then log off and type in user name and password.

Ah, ve av known where u are for some time now (to be read with a German accent ).
It is possible, but I don't think so; he's not a novice user and I would have expected him to check. Maybe a peek in the security log would be a good place to start, just in case. ;)
