Title: Only 2,000 Left - The Rainbow That Can Fly.

Only 2,000 Left - The Rainbow That Can Fly.

I was quite shocked when I read this as they were quite well known when I was a kid. I used to breed finches, and I have always loved these ones. So this is quite sad.

One thing I learned about having birds, they don't belong in cages.

I'm sure there are plenty in cages. Australia also has a thriving blackmarket, due to our unique wildlife. People are caught smuggling birds and bird eggs, lizards, stuffed in clothing and bags, many die before they have even left the country.    >:(

It always makes me sad to see caged birds.  I don't like seeing large fish in small tanks either.

I wonder where the idea first came from to keep animals as pets, or in cages?  It's always sad when a species disappears, and probably, one day, we'll be one of them, albeit by our own volition.  :(

Imagine how beautiful the world would look without humans, well the humans that have caused all the damage.

Aboriginals lived here for between 40,000 - 80,000 years. Europeans have been here just over 200 years, and the river systems are almost dead, we have the record for the fastest extinction rate, deforestation, soil erosion..........

The abos never really advanced from a primitive state of being and would never have had the ability to export food and goods or educate their children
After the europeans settled there they turned it into a vibrant and successful country which even managed to help save the world in two world wars. I dont think that the japs would have been as worried about a few abos and maoris chucking boomerangs and pointed sticks at them as they were of the Aussies and New Zealanders firing bullets and dropping bombs on them.  :)x

Don't worry Simon, I know that Sandra, deep down, really, really, deep down, so deep down that it would appear that it really doesn't exist, that she does in fact, posses a tiny fibre of respect and compassion for other cultures and peoples. And one day they will invent a microscope sooooo powerful, that we will indeed be able to prove this as a fact.  :o:   ;)

The only thing they will find under that intense scrutiny is the remnants of a Vindaloo curry!  ;D

I love foreign people and cultures MB, but I would rather go and observe such things in their own countries on holiday, rather than have them just around the corner from me as they are now  :o:

If the UK government didnt spend so much of our tax money on benefits for illegal immigrants then maybe our pensioners would have enough money to both buy and eat food as well as heat their houses, some have to choose one or the other now. Maybe I wouldnt have had to pay so much tax over many years and could have actually afforded to fly to more places for holidays  >:(
