Title: DELETING FILES

I HAVE 240 COMPLETE AND INCOMPLETE MUSIC FILES IN MY SHARED DOCS . I CAN PLAY THEM OR VIEW IMAGES BUT I CANT DELETE MOVE OR RE-NAME THEM I WISH TO DELETE THEM TO CREATE ROOM ...ANY SUGGESTIONS ...WHEN I TRY TO DO DELETE A BPX APPEARS ..ACCESS DENIED  MAKE SAURE DISK IS NOT FULL OR WRITE PROTECTED AND THAT THE FILE IS NOT CURRENTLY IN USE ...PLEASE HELP IVE PULLED MY HAIR OUT MY TOENAILS ARE NEXT TX

Hi Salty :welcome:,

Do you have a P2P program (such as WinMX or KAZZA) running? You'll probably find that this program is holding the incomplete files open so that they cannot be deleted. Try closing the program first.

Which operating system are you using? If you have Windows 2000 or XP, the files may belong to another user. You should be able to modify or delete the files if you log in as Administrator.

Hi Salty and welcome to pals..

Im not sure about your problem, but I think you can't delete files because its in your shared docs.
On my system(XP)you have to be in administrator to delete files.
Im sure someone with more knowledge on this will put you right.

OK Salty's told me he is using XP (he's having problems staying logged in :()

I have Windows XP Professional, so forgive me if this doesn't work in XP Home. To make a user Administrator equivalent:-

1. Open up Control Panel
2. Select the User Accounts icon
3. Select the User's icon from the list
4. Select Change the account type
5. Click Computer Administrator
6. Click Change Account Type

This should allow you full access to the shared files Salty. Let us know how you get on :)

HI AGAIN SORRY IM NOT SURE IF IM IN THE RIGHT PLACE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IN SINCE MY LAST POST AND I STILL CANT DELETE THE FILES OUT OF MY SHARED DOCS OR MOVE OR RE-NAME THEM .  I AM AN ADMINISTRATER SO IT ISNT THAT .  ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE MOST GRATEFULL AND I HOPE ALLAH BUDDHA GOD OR DAVID BECKHAM SMILES DOWN ON THE PERSON WHO CAN HELP ME. ;D

Not being funny, Salty, but are you certain the files are not in use by a P2P file sharing program?  If so, you may need to 'unshare' them, perhaps?  Just a guess.  Sorry if that's no help.

Salty you could try booting into safe mode to delete them ???
