I've got a Dell Dimension 4700 with 4GB extra ram and it's horrible! I hate Dell because of this and the customer support!. I need a computer that has the speed and performance to
1) deal with hi- res graphics, I also edit graphics (I'm a photographer)
2) I watch movies through DVD and Netflix
3) listen to CDs & Youtube
4) I've got Verizon high speed (there's nothing else avaible where I live.
5) I'm using AOL and my computer crashes all the time (is this the computer or AOL?)
6) I need to be able to multi task all of the above ^
7) I would like the computer to come with a 20'' to 21'' flat screen or LCD moniter.
8) the speakers I have now are awful I must change these.
9) I've heard awful things about Windows Vista and I perfer to use XP if possible.
I really need advice on this. If I call HP or Dell I will not be able to get an American and those people don't know what they're talking about, they just want to sell a product. There is No one in a 200 mile radius who knows a thing about computers.....sad to say but it's the truth.
This computer is about to die even though I've got Norton 360, PC doctor, Malware scanner.......It even takes 3 seconds for my typing to appear on this screen.
I've come to a wall and I don't know what to do, please help if you can.
I'm going to resume tearing my hair out now

Looks like it probably needs to be serviced.
I just looked at the specifications ----> here (http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-dimension-4700-desktop/4507-3118_7-30981395.html)
It has a 3.2ghz processor. Between that processor and 4gigs of ram you should be running like a bat out of hell. There are a few generic problems which slow computers down. The most common being virus and spyware problems. If you want we can direct you towards some free easy to use spyware and virus scanners and give you some tips to help you speed it up.

It has been resurviced and I know enough about computers to know that I have no Malware or viruses.
I asked advice in buying a NEW system if you can't help me with that than I've wasted my time.

There's no need for rudeness. We have no idea how much you know about computers, and Reno's suggestion was a perfectly valid one.
The first thing I would do is ditch the AOL browser, in favour of Firefox, and see if that improves things.

:stars:
I leave the really complicated problems to the administrators. ;D :o: :scoot:

No, carry on, Bob, I bow to your superior knowledge. I just don't like rudeness on the forum, but I guess I should have expected it from some of you Americans. ::)

Pity you don't know enough to listen to good advice!! , Here's a tip.. use Firefox (it has an inbuilt spell checker).

If you know enough about computers could you not choose the spec you want your self?

also Norton 360 - now that will eat the system resources!
