Title: Free Audio Recorder
Post by: Sandra on August 07, 2009, 02:16
I have been using Fairstars Recorder for a long time now to record stuff from things like SPOTIFY.

A friend of mine had problems installing it on her desktop PC recently even though shed had no problems installing it on her laptop. There was some problem with the audio drivers.

I came across this program a few days ago and sent her the link. She rang me this evening and says it installed and is working fine on the PC that Fairstars wouldnt work with.

Its a freebie available here :

Your not supposed to record stuff off sites like Spotify are you?  Surely that's as good as illegally downloading.  :dunno:

I dont know Simon, I never saw anything on Spotify saying you cant do it, maybe it was somewhere in the small print.
I suppose its a bit like when we used to record songs off radio Caroline and Luxembourg, a bit of a grey area but I think it was OK for your personal use.

I must own up to having recorded many tv programmes on video tape and more recently hard drive. I'm full of remorse now and off to hand myself in to the authorities.  ::)

I suspect you have not signed an agreement that you will not record these programmes for your own personal use.  Spotify users agree to the following term:

9. Restrictions of use

For the avoidance of doubt, you agree that you may not (without limitation):

   1. copy, reproduce, “rip”, record, make available to the public or otherwise use any part of the Spotify Software Application or the Spotify Service or its content (including but not limited to tracks, images and text) in a manner not expressly permitted under this Agreement;
