Title: Stargazers dazzled by meteor show
Post by: Simon on August 13, 2009, 11:33
Skygazers have observed a dazzling sky show, as the annual Perseid meteor shower reached its peak.

No special equipment was required to watch the shower, which occurs when Earth passes through a stream of dusty debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle.

Though a cloud-free sky would have helped. :)

The media screwed up completely this year because they implied the main part of the shower would be seen last night.  It was actually seen in the early hours of yesterday morning!  They did not understand that August 12 begins at midnight.   ;D
