Hi old friends :)
I have several e mail accounts but alas cannot attach any docs or piccys to any of my e mails in any of my accounts.
Any ideas muchly appreciated
-
Are those POP 3 or webmail accounts Graham and if POP 3 which mail client/s are you using ?
-
Is this a new annoyance or have you never been able to attach files? If it's just happened then I would try a simple re-boot. That worked for me! 8-)
-
I think its a webmail account as its my bt account that i've been trying to attach to but tried through outlook as well direct
-
Looks like i cant even send e mails they come back unable to send.
tried uploading pics to facebook so they could take the pictures from there but cannot up load pics there either :dunno:

BT may be having problems GK. There was a serious outage earlier this afternoon.
-
We know BT are doing some work on the networks this weekend, so anything could happen, but can't really see how it could affect emails. :dunno:
Nice to see you, Graham, how you doing?
-
Yes it can affect e-mails Simon. If it worked and then didn't work then it's probably safe to blame your ISP. :)
-
Well, blame BT, anyway. :)
-
If its only started doing it today then its probably the ISP as Simon and Clive has said, maybe theyre blocking some commonly used ports for email protocols as even with their email servers being down it shouldnt affect web based emails.
Web based emails may have restrictions on the size or type of attachments allowed, which can be stricter than ISP ones.

BT have announced a series of WBC "Capacity Upgrades" that are due to be
rolled-out over the course of the weekend, to be completed by 6pm on Monday.
They say that they have recently "uncovered" an issue with the capacity management process
which has caused parts of the network to be "under-dimensioned" [that's a new one!]
These upgrades "should cause no disruption to service".
-
No disruption whastsoever Simon. Apart from the 4 hours outage I suffered. :)
-
BT. That's why we love them! ::)
-
Do you get any kind of warning when you send
or does it just not atach the pics
If the attachment is to big you should get a warning
if it just doesnt attach it its a setting in your web mail has changed probably because of BT working on it
-

There's been several MUX outages this weekend, Clive.
-
Not sure what MUX outage means Rik.

:ithank: ;D
-
It means BT have MUXed it up, Clive. :)
-
Thanks for the very clear explanation Simon. ;D
-
Put in simple terms, BT muxed off.
-

I hit the attach button but nothing happens at all in fact my e mails are now coming back as unable to send
-
You will have to check your Outlook settings GK. Make sure nothing has changed or become corrupted. It should be mail.btinternet.com
-

Somehow the settings in your email client have changed
REset the settings and try again
if you get the warning unable to send then it means the settings are wrong
Go to options and make sure all the settings are as you want them looks like the attachment settings have changed as well as your SMTP settings
BT Yahoo account
* The POP3 server (incoming mail) is mail.btinternet.com
* The SMTP server (outgoing mail) is also mail.btinternet.com
* Both need your BT Yahoo! email address and password; you will have to tell your e-mail program that the SMTP server requires authentication.
* The SMTP server can use either port 25 or port 587.
These are all the servers BT has one might look familiar
BTClick mail.btinternet.com
BT.Com mail.btinternet.com
BT Connect pop3.btinternet.com
BT Internet mail.btinternet.com
