So what timezone are you in, does Canada share the American ones or have its own?

Time zones are set by longitude so they should be the same as USA time zones.  :)

yeah, Canada has ones similar to the USA - I'm in mountain time so -7 hours to UK at the moment, not sure if the americans call it that though.

They do, iirc, Pacific, Mountain, Central and Eastern, west to east.
