Almost 30,000 people across the UK still tune into their favourite programmes on black and white TV sets.
The figures were released by TV Licensing to mark the 40th anniversary of the first colour transmissions on BBC1 and ITV.

Now that is amazing...
-
Isn't it? I didn't even know they still broadcast in black and white. :)x
-
I just wonder how they're keeping the sets alive.
-
Things were built to last in those days. :)
-
True, but valves still fail.
-
That's why we need pacemakers!
-
Yes, Gerry. ;D
-
Well, he could probably have done with one.
-
He did, it was called a drummer. ;)

:aarrgh: :groan:

I think they have to continue broadcasting in black and white until 2016 but there are now plans to extend it until 2018. ;D This is my trusty TV set. The valves keep us nice and warm in winter.

Where's the binoculars, Clive? :)

What do you do, hide inside it?

We use one of those plastic magnifiers over the front of it Rik. Don't you remember them? ;D

We had a black and white TV, and we got a plastic 'filter' that hung over the front of the screen, with three colours. Blue at the top, orange in the middle and green at the bottom. It was supposed to simulate colour, but was only ever any good for horse racing. ;D

The 70s were simply brilliant! ;D
-
They were that, I met Sue. :)
-
I met music. :)
-
I bet music doesn't cook for you, though. ;D
-
Does she sing for you though? :)
-
Sorry, she = Sue. ;D
-
I prefer her not to. ;)
-
I'm sure the feeling is mutual. :)x
-
Sue likes it when I sing, as it's a sign I'm happy. It helps, of course, that she is tone deaf. ;D
