He's a very skilful carver.

Believe it or not, some motor car manufacturers (Ferrari springs to mind) are so protective of their image licensing rights that they will sue anyone who carves a model of one of their cars.

Good heavens - that's utterly ridiculous!  I think they would lose a lot of support if they did sue some unsuspecting hobbyist.

That's how they use the laws, Clive.  You should visit some of the scroll saw and carving forums - copyright is one of the biggest issues there.  I've even known somebody be told by Disney lawyers to remove a photograph from the internet of a Winnie-The-Pooh cut-out he had made to decorate his toddler's nursery.

I would have seen it more as a tribute, than a copyright issue.   :-\
