Title: Google Launches Dictionary, Drops Answers.com

Google has expanded its remit once again with the quiet launch of Google Dictionary. Google word search definitions now redirect to Google Dictionary instead of to Google's long term thesaurus goto site, Answers.com, which is expected to take a serious hit in traffic as a result. Dictionary pages are noticeably more plain and faster loading than their Answers.com equivalents, and unusually feature web citations for the definitions of each word. This means that, unlike most dictionaries, Google considers ginormous a word

As long as there's a dictionary somewhere, I don't really care who's it is.

My 16 month old grandson loves it.  I have to read it to him over and over again.

Whenever I see him he finds the book and brings it over for me to read it. He has a favourite page which shows lots of red fire engines, police cars and ambulances racing towards the meteorite [sic] as it falls towards Earth and he will make me read that bit several times before I can turn over the page.  Naturally he doesn't understand a word of what I'm saying but he likes all the funny voices his granddad makes during the reading.  I don't know that he will ever learn to talk because his mother speaks to him in Thai and his dad in English.  That would be far too confusing for me!     :dunno:
