Title: Gavin and Stacey Facebook petition rockets
Post by: Clive on January 08, 2010, 14:36
More than 130,000 people are campaigning for Gavin and Stacey creators James Corden and Ruth Jones to make another series of the hit BBC comedy via an official Facebook group.

The episode shown on BBC One on New Year's Day was reported to be the last ever.

According to 'The Official Petition for another series of Gavin and Stacey' Facebook page, if the group hits over 500,000 members, the group's creators will contact newspapers, magazines and TV and radio stations.

James Corden said in November: "There will never be another series. Ruth and I are definite about that. As far as specials are concerned, if we had an idea for a story with these characters, then maybe, but I don't think that will happen anytime soon."

Ruth Jones added: "We definitely won't be writing another series. Where would we go with it? It's time to say goodbye to these characters now."

The Facebook group claims to be inspired by the success of the recent Facebook campaign which saw Rage Against The Machine beat The X Factor winner Joe McElderry to Christmas number one.

I can imagine those who've bought the DVD boxset won't be too chuffed if there's another series.   8-)

I very much doubt that they will make one.  Unlike many of the Beeb's other comedies they want to go out on a high instead of waiting until everyone loses interest.

Doesn't that always happen though?  I mean, who would be daft enough to buy the new Harry Potter box set?  :o:

If it isn't a soap, it doesn't get past Nita's remote finger.  Not that Nita's finger is in any way remote at all, or is indeed her only finger, but our telly only seems to show soaps for some peculiar reason.

Ours only shows Doctor Who, Star Trek, River Cottage and a bizarre programme on the History Channel called The Universe.  That's one of the reasons why i spend so much time downloading TV programmes to my computer.
