Title: A Pivotal Moment for Microsoft Office
Post by: sam on January 15, 2010, 01:03
Quote
Office 2010 awaits us later this year, and I've been wondering what it could possibly offer customers that would compel us to buy or upgrade to this software. Office software in general progressed about as far as most of us needed it to go somewhere in the 90s. Since then it's been race to add the most bells and whistles, most of which go unused. That's why I was surprised when I saw this InformationWeek article about record downloads of Office 2010 beta software.

I continue to use Office 97, a copy of which I acquired at a very reasonable price because I was registered as a student.

It still suffices.

Office 2003 works well enough for me.

I have Office 2007 installed on this computer but 2000 or 2003 are far superior in my opinion.

I've got 2003 on three machines and 2007 on the fourth. Maybe it's just familiarity, but I prefer 2003.

I've both too (or should that be both two?) and, yep, much prefer the 2003 version to 2007.  Wild horses, therefore, won't drag me into the 21st century - unless they somehow cripple 2003.  As for 2010, I can't understand why anyone but a first-time buyer would want to fork out good money for it.

I have Office 2007, because it is the version used by the students at college I work at and so I need to be familiar with it.  Worse thing the college ever did.  Both staff and students hate it.  Why college downgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007 I will never understand, because we still use XP as operating system rather than that bucket of w**k, Vista, so why install an inferior office package?

Newer is rarely better when it comes to software.

Home made every time!  Especially the inverted cheese burger where the burger is stuffed with a mixture of blue cheese and butter  :gogogo: .

One of my favourite recipes is fillet steak with blue cheese butter.  And it's not even the blessed Delia.   :D

I will probably try out your DR in a few weeks or so.  My freezer has to run down a bit first!

The very ones Simon.  Definitely better than the average oven chip!  But nowhere near as good as the real thing.

Poor Aberdeen Angus.  He always gets a rough deal.  I reckon he should change his name to Burlington Bertie.

I've always liked Angus as a name.
