There’s a new camera category in town. It’s EVIL, and it’s going to kick your DSLR’s ass. EVIL stands for Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens, and is our favorite acronym for cameras like the Olympus Pen, the Lumix GF1 and the Samsung NX10. These small, mirrorless, finderless cameras can fit in a pocket and outperform bulky DSLRs. Here’s why your next camera will probably be EVIL.

I shall wait until they come down in price but I can see their advantages. My Sony Cybershot, which has served me well I might add, takes an age to kick in after I press the button.

my canon ixus point and click is bloody fast.. though over time its gotten slower, in particular building up charge for the flash... I'd like a better camera but I also dont like the idea of carrying lots of lens etc around with me.

Oddly, that's exactly what I do like, Sam. Primes are so much better than zooms, and only marginally less convenient.

I think I already have one of those - the Panasonic G1, don't I, Rik?
-
You do. Now take it out of its box. ;D
-
I really should. Spring is on the way! :woot:
-
At least that's what they say... ;)

I shall make sure - by ordering one of these (http://www.bigroadstudios.com/di_sketch/images/slinky.jpg).

I thought they were called slinkies?

I guess when I have a car etc (oh we do now.. I just can't drive - we got a Clio for Lizzie to drive me around over Christmas o:) ) I might be more tempted with all the big lenses.. but to be honest I prefer much bigger lenses than the type you can put in a bag.

I didn't think you did pocket sized lenses, Sam. ;)
