I use to love using infra-red film, though it was a very 'blind' process - you needed a lens that was calibrated for IR, and you couldn't see through the viewfinder once the filter was on.

Provided you had time to compose the picture on a tripod, then make the necessary adjustments with the filter on, it was an interesting branch of photography. I also used to play with Kodak's 'recording' film, devised for surveillance, it had an ISO rating of 2750. That could be fun.
