Sophisticated new technologies created by NASA and university scientists are enabling them to build an instrument designed to probe the first moments of the universe's existence.

Considered a staggering idea just 30 years ago, the inflation theory postulates that the universe expanded far faster than the speed of light and grew exponentially almost instantaneously after the big bang, the moment the universe sprang into existence 13.7 billion years ago.
I always considered it to be a preposterous idea but now I believe anything is possible!

Isn't this akin to time travel?
-
Time hadn't begun at that stage Simon. ;)

::)

They were waiting for someone to invent the clock, presumably? ;D
-
I think it was Mr Timex.
-
Dundee hasn't been the same since. ;)
-
Is that where they were made?
-
In this country, yes. :)
-
My first watch was a Timex.
-
Mine was an Accurist, my father's preferred brand.
-
What a toff! ;D
-
I then went to Bulova. :)
-
Was that after Eton? :D
-
:groan: ;D That's another fine mess you've got us in Clive. ;)
-
:wtf:
-
You want me to explain? ;D
-
Probably not. :)
-
Bulova was a brand of watch in the 60s & early 70s which used an electrically excited tuning fork to drive the time. Probably the first use of an electronic component. Clive going down the Eton road just left me with a pud pun I couldn't resist. ;)
