Title: Annoying monitor settings pop up

Please help,
I keep getting a really annoying settings pop up appearing in the middle of my monitor, it will stay there for several seconds then disappear for about a minute then return. It disappears when i hit the exit button on my monitor but still returns. I've tried taking a screen shot to post but it doesnt appear on any that i've taken.

Hi Graham, long time no see!

My first thought is possibly a faulty / dirty Settings button on the monitor.  Have you tried pressing it several times to try to clean behind the button, or perhaps use a switch cleaner?

Is there any monitor controlling software on the PC?

It suggests there's no control software on the machine, so try Simon's idea.

Thanks for your suggestions but nothing seems to work, have even tried system restore.

How old is the monitor, Graham?  Assuming you've checked the connections, I can only suggest it could be a bad circuit inside.  Do you have another monitor you could try, to eliminate the graphics card, or any software issue?

I would remove the connection cable, clean the pins and plug it back in again.  If you have a spare cable try that and see if it goes away.   :dunno:
