I think you can create folders on any partition and move files / folders into it, Jim.  Is there anything currently on the freer partition?

Hi Simon, I have 110GB free on the other partition.

Does it show with a drive letter in My Computer, Jim?  If so, you should be able to create folders and copy / drag items to it.

That sounds a bit odd, as usually C drive is the main drive, but you should be able to safely transfer any music, picture, and video files, which should free up some space.

Try one or two first, just in case, though!

if you are copying audio files over and you use some program like windows media player, you'll probably have to re-index their locations.

But everything except program related files should be fine. Do you have system restore on, wonder how much that is taking up?

I know this might sound obvious, but how's the recycle bin? I've noticed people have huge ones before.... so thought its worth a mention.

Running the indispensable free tool CCleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner) regularly, will also help clear some space as well as emptying the bin.  The same company, Piriform, also gives away Defraggler (http://www.piriform.com/defraggler), which may speed things up once you've made a bit of room on your system drive.
