The title says it all, really. My Firefox browser won't open when I try to start it either from a desktop shortcut or from the programs startup menu.
Help! I don't won't to lose all my bookmarks.
-
I take it you don't have FEBE installed, Gill. That would overcome the latter problem. Can you import the FF bookmarks into another browser?
-
does it given any error message? I'd actually download the newer version and read in the bookmarks.
-
Rik - I don't know what FEBE is.
Sam - there's no error message; nothing happens.
-
FEBE is a addon which backs up cookies, bookmarks etc. Jill. It can then restore to a new installation easily.
Have you tried pulling the bookmarks into IE or any other browser.
-
Have you tried starting it in Safe Mode - Firefox's own Safe Mode, not Windows Safe Mode?
-
I would just try reinstalling it, Gill. Your Bookmarks should be safe. Alternatively, install Sea Monkey first, and import your Bookmarks into that, then try reinstalling FF.
-
Have you tried rebooting the PC, Gill?
-
Firefox's own safe mode did the trick :) . Now it also opens properly even if it's not in safe mode.
Learning my lesson, I've just exported my bookmarks to HDD and also imported them into Comodo Dragon.
Many thanks for the help, guys.

Have you downloaded FEBE, Gill. It can be a lifesaver.

good news, glad you got it fixed. I'm sure you could have accessed the files via another method too.

Glad you sorted it out Gill. :)
