Can't think of anything worse Simon. I must be the only person in the UK who didn't enjoy Dad's Army all that much. :D
-
Not sure I could watch the complete box set, but I think they were great characters, and I still find them very amusing.
-
Still one of my favourites, as is It Ain't Half Hot Mum.
-
Winsor Davies was wonderful in that.

Hi di hi?
-
No!!! :ack:

;D
-
I preferred that one! Not a huge fan of some of the characters though. :)
-
It was so like 50s holiday camps, though.
-
Yes! As a child I once had a holiday at Butlin's. ;D
-
I had many holidays at Butlins, but they all looked like a post-apocalyptic scene.
-
I had a holiday at Butlins when I was about eight years old and I had a marvellous time :) .
That reminds me, is Pontins still in administratation?
-
Haven't heard otherwise, Gill.

I was around 10 when my parents took me to Pwllheli Butlins. I have to say that I had a great time too but it was my first proper holiday and it was quite an adventure being driven all the way up to north Wales. I remember the chalets were really small and very basic and were not equipped with toilets. They had large toilet blocks with washing facilities, non mixed of course! Meals were provided 'canteen style' with long wooden benches to sit on and were served at set times. There were lots of activities for kids and adults and planning the day in order not to miss anything was a major event.
-
And the food was just like school dinners. :bawl:
-
You are being generous Rik.
-
You didn't know my school. ;D
Those places were such a post-war anachronism, though, based, it seemed on concert parties. Not that I realised that at the time...
-
What's a concert party Rik? :dunno:
-
It ain't half hot mum? ;)
