I stupidly allowed Thunderbird to update from version 3.something to version 5. Not only did two of my accounts disappear, but it took me ages to add them again due to Thunderbird insisting on setting up server settings automatically etc. Thunderbird, has now to go, just as Firefox went recently.
As Google do not yet have an email client to complement Chrome, I am seriously thinking of using Microsoft Outlook as my email client. Before I do this, does anyone know of an alternative that simply allows you to send and receive emails without trying to be clever?
Thanks.

Did you not once use the Sea Monkey browser, Dave? That has a built in mail client, similar to Thunderbird, but without the silliness. Might be worth a try?

What about use gmail? It of course is all web based but will pull all ur mail from pop3 servers for you.
Could you not install and older version of thunderbird?
I know of a few Linux mail programs will take a look later and see if they have windows counterparts.

Thanks, guys. I hadn't thought of using web-based Gmail, but I'll take a look at it.
Thanks again.

I've now got all my mail being checked in Gmail. I suppose it is the better way as having an always on connection has made email clients obsolete.
Thanks again.

Even better Dave, I have never received one spam message into my Googlemail account. :dunno:
