Mobotap has released its premium Dolphin browser for free, following a $10 million investment from renowned venture capital group Sequioa Capital.
Dolphin was previously offered in two forms: a free ad-supported browser and a $4.99 ad-free version. The ad-supported version has now been scrapped, along with the fee for the premium browser.
Mobotap's CEO Yongzhi Yang said the company “will use the new funds for rapid product development” as it aims for Dolphin to expand “into new market segments.”
The browser has recorded more than eight million downloads, and an average score of 4.5 stars from 90,000 reviews on the Android Market.
