The BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-15414606) has announced the death of Edmundo Ros at the age of 100. A great loss to all of us who danced to his music. :rip:

:rip: :dunno:

I'll have to educate you. In this case, the subject would be history as he retired in 1975. ;)
-
Clive would know him, I expect. ;)
-
I'd bet on it. Here's some samples:

He brought happy Latin music to the whole world. Sadly missed :rip: .
-
He did indeed, Gill.
-
Oh yes, I have several of his albums - particularly on Decca Phase 4. The Edmundo Ross orchestra played the best Latin-American music you could dance to - always lots of fun. Perhaps his most famous piece was the Tea for Two cha cha.
-
Phase 4 - happy memories. :) I loved to dance to his music, the rhythm was so infused into the music, it made you a better dancer.
-
I have one called Heath versus Ross - two great bands competing with each other. 8-)
-
It reminds me of the trouble I used to go to setting up my SME tone arm. CDs are much easier. :)
-
Yes, it was a nightmare! :(
-
It seemed like good fun back then, Clive, but when you think of all the adjustments that had to be made, it was a bit like setting up a new computer. :)
-
Yes, I have a Systemsdeck although I don't use it these days. Mrs Clive wants me to get rid of it.
-
Probably because it's got 6" of dust on it. :)
-
Yes, it's kept on top of a wardrobe!
-
:)
Mine's in the same place.
-
On top of Clive's wardrobe?
-
Close... ;D
-
I've been wondering what that was!! ;D Getting back to Phase 4, I have quite a collection of Ted Heath, Edmundo Ross and Stanley Black. Of course it was all a bit gimmicky and designed to put wow factor into all that newly acquired stereo equipment.
Here for your reading pleasure Rik, I give you Decca Phase 4.

I owned so many of those, Clive. :thumb:
-
My favourites were Hawaiian Swing by Wener Muller and his Orchestra and Satin, Saxes and Bouncing Brass by Ted Heath and his Music. Also of course Dance Again by Edmundo Ros and his Orchestra.
-
The Grand Canyon was pretty good too.

Not heard that one. But I wish I had bought some of the Stan Kenton. A very vibrant orchestra.
