Inverted commas in jokes appear as " Which makes reading them aloud to my other half more difficult. Can I make this appear as inverted commas somehow. Only recently started again so may have missed this elsewhere but searching gives no clues.
-
depending on what you are doing you could do find and replace. """ - what are we looking at specifically - I mean what programme are you using?
-
Hi Sam,
I am just reading the blonde jokes on the comedy page of this forum. I have not encountered this problem on Idnetters comedy where they appear as they should. Using FF latest , Win7 home premium.
-
That's odd, we're both using the same version of the forum software. :dunno:
I see what you mean, though, and looking at the age of the posts, I suspect that something was 'lost in translation' when the forum software used here was changed to SMF.
-
Yes, some very old posts have this character issue. I don't think there's much we can do about it now, unless Sam can come up with a quick fix.
-
hmmm, I can probably come up with a fix on the database - would involve me running a script to find and replace on all entries...
-
I don't know, Simon, you could manually edit all the affected posts. :scoot: :santa:
-
though alas it won't be a quick job - just had a look at what I'll need todo - so it will have to wait for now - sorry - I'll try and do this in the new year - but someone give me a push if I haven't. Actually if anyone notices any other old - as Rik calls them "lost in translation bugs" let me know. It is indeed likely when we changed forum software that a few strings weren't properly copied over.
-
Why don't we delegate fixing it manually to Clive, he's not here to object. All in favour, raise your hands. ;D
-
here here!
-
Two down, where's Simon when you need him. ;D
-
Aye! :thumb:
-
Majority! Clive, it's all down to you.
-
I fixed hundreds of those "'s some years ago but realised there were just far too many to deal with and lost the will to live. ;D
-
-
We should have tried harder. ;D
