Hi maz :welcome: I hope we can find an answer for you :)

A few questions first ::)

How do you connect to the Internet? Do you have a modem or do you have ADSL? If you have a modem, is it an inetrnal one or if external is it USB or serial?

Have you run Scandisk recently?

Did the problem start happening when you installed a particular piece of software?

BTW Congratulations on being our 100th active member - there's no prize; just kudos ;D ;D

I believe there is a problem with certain motherboard chipsets and USB modems which might have something to do with your problem. There is a thread about it somewhere on Pals, but I can't find it at the moment. I'll get back to you :)

If you can get the modem to last long enough without freezing, a trip to the modem manufacturer's website may be useful to download the latest drivers. It may be worth removing the drivers completely and reinstalling the drivers with the USB cable plugged into a different port if you can.

I found that thread I was talking about. You'll find a lot of information here (http://pc-pals.com/index.php?board=45;action=display;threadid=2433;start=0). It may be worth reading that before you go reloading drivers  ;)

Hi Maz,can you tell us how long you have had BB in relation to when the freeze up started?
Was it the same on 56K or have you had BB for ages?
Which motherboard are you using and which USB Adsl modem so we can see if it has been a known conflict before ?
Is your modem plugged into the pc,therefore bus powered or into a powered or not powered hub?

Welcome aboard by the way  :-*

Hi maz.

I had exactly the same problem as you a while back.  (WIn98SE).  I cured it temporarily by turning off graphics acceleration, but eventually ended up replacing my graphics card with an old one I had amongst my bits and pieces.

Just something else to consider.

By the way :welcome:

Just for our information - Did you have this problem ALL the time you were using BROADBAND? Or has it just started *randomly* - or did it start after your upgrade to IE 6??

It does sound like it may be a USB modem issue - I'm more familiar with restarting PC's thatn freezes....  ???
