I can't see how it will combat spammers, given that they will still have to allow @hotmail accounts, due to the billions that already have them, but it will be interesting to see where it goes.

Wont be any different than hotmail
You can actually change your hotmail account into an outlook.com account
I opened an account and didnt really like it

I like the fact that after upgrading my hotmail account to an outlook account my offline storage went up to 25Gb from5 Gb, I have two accounts so now have 50gb of FREE storage. ;D

actually the email account itself is not bad
Ive had one open since the beginning and no spam at all so far
I always open an email account with no use for a few months as a check on spam

I've had a GMail account for 6 years and not one single spam has got through! Very impressive!
