Title: USB backup
Post by: mistybear on September 06, 2012, 18:23
Hi Guys, been a long time, but I'm still alive and kicking.

I need to back up this laptop as it's going in for repair.

I've been advised a USB stick, but I have a problem, yeah, so what's new.  ;)

I have 1 main admin account and about 5  or 6 user accounts, and I need to keep all information from all accounts.

So, how do I do this?

No idea, Kate!  But I'm sure someone will know. :)  I wouldn't have thought a USB stick would be sufficient, though.  A USB external drive, maybe?

Cats do have nine lives so no wonder you have so many user accounts.   :o:  Rik or Rod will be able to help.

I don't think there will be any hurry as I received a call from my mum's hostel and she doesn't have long.
So I hope to had up there next week.

She had a fall last November and I have been up there for most of this time.

But I'd still like the advice. Perhaps an external HDD would be best then I could reuse it for storage.

Thanks Rik, it's a nightmare.

But back to something I can do.

Can I save the data on each individual user accounts?

Not thinking about the users settings but I think the easiest thing todo would be to login as admin and just copy over all of the users files to the usb disk. You could probably just image the disk or even try the windows backup
