CDRom opens randomly very bothersome Norton and AVG cannot find virus

Hi Drummer and welcome aboard.
I doubt that its a virus,there is a "joke" program being sent around that can do it but as far as I know it just does it the one time.
Do a file search for cupholder.exe and delete it if you can find it.
There is also a version that is a VB script that runs when you click on this link :

http://www.modelscams.com/cupholder.html

Maybe a search just for cupholder would do to find whichever is the offending program.

If you cant find that exact file try pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL and check if there are any "rogue" programs running in the background. Think you need to be on XP though :(
