Hi Folks.. am at work now :'(..
Ok does anybody know anthing about Access Data bases.. ???
My problem, I have a data base that was set up by my IT dept (whizzkid) who has now left the company and the base has now been corrupted.
Its with work groups amd permissions set.. how do I get through these so that I can run a repair, if I cant repair it there is 2 years worth of work gone :'(
Many thanks in advance

Is the file particularly large Hook?
If you want to zip it up and send it to me, I could have a look for you :)
I have Access 97 and 2002 here. If it is Access 2000 that may be a problem.

Thanks for the reply.. ;D.. Im afraid its Access 2000 :( is it still worth zipping up.
The Dbase is a tad large.. its my order number Requistion system in the Engineering Dept that I run. starts off at Eng 001 and is up to Eng 3419 :o 2 years worth of order numbers and info.
Cheers

Apparently 2002 can read and repair 2000 databases, so it may still be worth mailling it to me.

You are in luck Hook,Serenity is doing a course on Access 2000 at the moment so she may be able to help you and Adept to sort it out :-*

OK sorry Hook, I can't access the file :(
But I know a man who can :) Unfortunately it's going to cost $150 for the software.
Have a look at http://www.elcomsoft.com/aoxppr.html. I am sure this software will help you recover the passwords.
Maybe one of your other Pals could have a crack at it for you? *cough* ;)

I'll have a look over the weekend for you.
Sadly working all tonight and tomorrow.
I've sent you a PM Hookand a couple for Adept for sites for programs etc ::) but will let you know if I get any further.

Which exact program does it need Adept,(just in case I have a copy of it lying around) :-*

I think it's Advanced Office XP Password Recovery (professional edition), Sandra. Looking myself. ;)
-
There's also just Advanced Access Password Recovery, which may well do the job.

No unfortunately, it doesn't :(
It's the Office XP Pro version which is the DBs. It will recover the User and Workgroup info which Hook needs to gain full access to the file.

That's a shame Sean - I've got a version ready to send him.

Thank you ALL for the help in trying to get this sorted, its not so much the passwords that are the problem as I have them ;D.. its for some reason going round in circles when booting up and coming up with Autoexec file corrupt.. now I know its the autoexec file in the dbase that is wrong.
once again thank you all for the PMs and I will keep you all informed on Monday ;D

Now you tell me! ::)
Do me a favour Hookstar. Drop me an email with those passwords and I'll have it sorted in a jiffy ;)
-
Ok Adept.. it will have to be Monday now ;D
-
Adept the passwords will be winging there way to you this morning ;D
I think I have found out why it was corrupted this morning, the Engineers PC fell down at the same time as the Dbase was corrupted and I was not informed as the Engineer was on the dreaded 10pm - 6 am shift and didnt leave any notes as to why the pc crashed with the dbase open.
I have cleared the pc problem this morning and the Dbase has opened up again ok..but I would like you to have a look at it and see if the Dbase was the problem in the 1st place.
Cheers
