@Adept
Sorry to have caused you to have move a post by me concerning Booby Trapped Software but as far as I was aware there were no bans on publishing a link to another article on the internet, I was not advocating the use of hacking or cracking and there was no content in that post to suggest that. Just passing on information that is freely available on the internet that may have helped other members who have experienced difficulties with there installed software should not be a problem.
Before I posted on the forum I checked for FAQs and the help button but there is no clear policy that I could find
Again sorry if I caused a problem

We haven't got a policy Brian. We just make it up as we go along as it's easier to move the goalposts that way. ;D What we were twitching about was the fact that the link contained hacks which although were extremely useful, could get us into deep poo. ;D You of course were just trying to be your usual helpful self. :heehee:

Hi Clive
I will try to avoid droping loads of poo about the site ;D
The problem is that any link to any other site on the internet could contain questionable content thats why forums dont alow live links or serials to be posted but an indirect link or a link to a site where other answers may be found are often allowed

This is obviously an area which needs clarification - we'll look into this and get back to you with a definite answer, Brian. :)

Brian,
There are no FAQs because we like to be as informal as possible here :) after a bad experience elsewhere. But we do, however, have some commonsense rules which the Admins and Mods have agreed.
In the registration form that you filled in when you signed up, it clearly states that your posts to PC-Pals are not to break ANY laws. Your post took me directly to a site which contains information about extending the life of "time-limited" software - clearly an illegal activity. I'm not trying to be "holier that thou" here. We all know that hacking/cracking goes on and it is not my place to preach.
However our Web Hosts clearly state in their T&Cs that any reference to Hacking/Cracking/Illegal Software/Warez/Illegal MP3s/Porn etc. on our site either directly or indirectly by link could lead to the site being closed down. There are also fairly substantial financial penalties involved for breaching the T&Cs.
PC-Pals is too important to us to be lost due to a breach of these T&Cs, so we jump on any post which looks even a little bit "dodgy". It's nothing personal Brian honestly :)
As Simon says, we are now (reluctanlty) going to discuss a more formal expression of our T&Cs and will post them as soon as we can.

loved the "rant" smiley Brian, I have saved it because I think I "may" have occasion to use it ::) ;D

Its a standard smiley now Tony. Simon felt it might be useful for some reason :-\ ;D
Just type : rant : (without the spaces) :)
