Hi Dominic,welcome aboard.
Is it all downloads or just that messenger one as I think messenger wants to open from the download and is recommended not to save to disk, maybe in the MSN Messenger 6 version its set to do it automatically  ???

Hi Dominic,

If you right click the link, can you not 'Save Target As...'?   :-\

Not exactly an answer to the problem, but alternatively, you could try a third party download manager, such as Star Downloader (http://www.stardownloader.com/).  This is a free program, which aims to increase your download speeds by up to 400%, but splitting the files into smaller sections, and downloading the parts simultaneously.  Might do what you want.

I spent ages last night looking for a solution to it Dominic but I only came across it being mentioned once but it required joining an IT pro forum which involved cash as a joining fee to get the answer  :(
Has it only recently happened ?
If so have you installed or unistalled any programs or hardware recently which has somehow caused it ?
Have you tried System Restore if this is the case ?

Hi Dominic :welcome:

I think your problem may have someting to do with this Microsoft Knowledgebase article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822232).

I looked at that a couple of times last night Adept but decided that as that comes up after the download is being saved to where you tell it to save to that it wasnt that one.
I hope I am wrong for Dominics sake   ???
