Hi Tigerbee,

I'm not on the technical side, but welcome  :)  - you might want to wait before doing this ........but can you not just use the system restore to restore it to before it was deleted or is it still gone?

The techies will be along soon and I'm sure they will know what to do  :D

I just looked up that exe and its on this list that says you can disable it?

<<Following lists show Tasks which can be disabled and still let your PC function well or even better. We have removed HP Tasks from clients PC which were resulting in frequent lockups. Of course you make any changes at your own risk. >>

but it is a microsoft thing so I'm sure you can down load it again, someone will know I'm sure.

Hi,

The file is used to monitor the connection to the internet.

You can download the file again from HERE (http://www.surecool.com/individ.htm) it needs to be put into c:\windows\system32\

I'm sure a techie will be here soon to confirm if this is correct  ::)

Found some more info:

Quote
Cmmon32.exe:  Microsoft Connection Manager Monitor. Little known Microsoft program on which there is no documentation.  We have only ever seen it used in conjunction with the Internet dialler provided by some ISPs ? we still do not know what it actually does.

Recommendation :
There seems to be a definite impact on the performance of the PC when this background task is running.  We do not have a specific recommendation yet, but in our case, whenever we have terminated the task the PC?s performance has improved, the Internet connection has stayed up, and we have observed no consequences as a result of terminating CMMON32.

So it does seem like your ISP dialler needs it - which ISP are you using?  You may be able to set up the internet connection manually, without using their dialler, which may enable you to do away with the Cmmon32.exe.

Apart from the link that DJ gave that doesnt appear to work at the moment on the download, that file doesnt seem to be available from anywhere else.
I think that you should try as Michelle suggests and run System Restore to a point prior to when you deleted it.

For future reference if you are going to delete something always make a copy of the file and keep it somewhere, preferably on a floppy so that if you do find that you need it,you can easily replace it again :doggie:

Not sure if that link I posted was useful. It is working for me - don't know why others can access it.

The link above is http://www.surecool.com/individ.htm (http://www.surecool.com/individ.htm)

PS - If you can't access the site - send me a PM with your email address and I'll send the file to you.

You have to do a right-click and 'save target as' to download the file.  Just clicking won't work.

If anyone wants the file, I too have a copy downloaded so send me a PM with a valid email address and I'll email it to you. Ain't I Kind ::)
