This will be the second time I've written this, nearly everytime I click on a link or post a message this afternoon it goes to page cannnot be displayed and I have to click on the refresh button, and it comes up,mostly. Also when I first go into pc pals it says something odd at the top of the page like its not loading properly.
I've not deleted anything today, or changed settings so i don't know why this is happening
I am using ME and IE5.5 can you help please?
Am gonna copy this, this time incase I have to do it again

Is it just on Pals Michelle ?
If it is its possibly just a glitch like the other night when it was going slow for some reason.
If its on all pages and you havent changed anything then its probably a temporary problem with your ISP :doggie:
-
No I thought it was just pals but its all of them :'(
Okay so best not go messing about with stuff and just leave it for a while then huh.
Thanks sandra :-*

If it's any help Michelle....it took that long to open the thread i've forgotten what I was going to say. :(

well ........ ntl has two dialup numbers - a new one which they call ntlfreedom and the old one ntlworld.
I've gone back in now using the old one ntl world and it seems fine, apart from being painfully slow I got a glass of wine and cleaned the kitchen floor before this page opened
-
Ohhh its lovely now, see how quick that was - no hump now ;)
-
I've been having problems over the last hour or so as well.
The forum was very very slow, not sure if it was being backed up or some other process running in the background ???
Everything is fine now though ;)

I just had the same problem Michelle so it's not just you. Everything is back to normal again now. Phew! ;D
-
It wasn't just slow tho, what I had was not opening the page and it would go to "can't open page" and I'd have to refresh it and when you are doing that to a post you lose it all. And it was slow after than
Still "alls well that ends well"
;D :D

We went through a period there where the server was very slow :(
I'm sorry I don't have any information as to why it happened. All I do know is that the server was fine. Maybe the downstream bandwidth provider was having problems :-\
-
I would update to internet explorer 6 if you have the time.
-
Thanks Ketamininja thats a good idea actually, it doesn't seem so bad now but I think I might still get IE6 is that what most people are on now?
-
I think you will probably find that almost everybody upgraded to IE6 a long time ago Michelle as it's been around for quite a long time. Not sure what the advantages are but it works and looks the same as IE5.
-
You could always try Opera, Michelle. :)
-
I guess I didn't bother upgrading then lol
I might just do that dave if i keep having problems. ;)
-
... or Mozilla (no ads!). ;)
-
its acting very funny again, sometimes not opening pages!?!
I got this message or similar once or twice too, anyone know what it means?
Parse error: parse error in /data/content/docs/inc/uniqueUserCookie.inc on line 7
Think I'd better do upgrade!!
-
Me technical Pah!!
I've been looking up this problem, and it seems to have something to do with PHP but now I need to look that up on one of our lists to find out what that is
-
Deeeerrrrr Personal Home Page
so right, its all been since I started doing my own webpage but its not on line yet ? Or does that mean ntl's home page?
-
Me again talking to myself
I found this - my exact problem, but I can't find the answer cos the pages won't open

I am having a problem with IE 5 - 5.5 on *some* computers when uploading
files. If the upload takes longer then 15min or so, the
header("Location: .."); doesnt go through.

To quote www.php.net:-
PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML.
It's a program fault on the website you are trying to reach Michelle. Nothing you can do about it apart from maybe emailing the webmaster of the site and letting him know how you broke his site ;D ;D

 I thought it was connected with the other problem of pages not opening. Maybe not then.
I give up now. :-\
damn and now I've smudged my nail varnish
