Before my wife bans me from using my computer, does anyone know how to switch the sound off in the Christmas sigs? ;D
-
Dont roll over them Clive :P
Or switch the speakers off while viewing the page ;)
-
I'm not usually that hot with these technical questions, but I have discovered that by pressing the 'Off' button on my monitors, it stops me jumping put of my skin whenever I inadvertantly mouseover on a sig.
An alternative method of making the sound produced by these sigs a little less noticeable involves playing Motorhead's Ace of Spades on repeat with the volume turned up full.
Hope this helps. ;D
(Edit: Whoops! That'll teach me to answer the 'phone!)

Miserable old gits could always remove their hearing aids CLIVE as well ;)

Thanks for all those encouraging remarks. ;D The speakers on my Adeptmobile are built into the monitor and it's already on "please do not disturb." At least I've now found out how to turn it up if I need to. ;D Bah! Humbug! I enjoy being miserable over Christmas so stop spoiling my fun you lot!
-
Awww Clive you old tart ;) :P I think the sound sigs are brilliant, apart from giving me a hernia when I fell off the chair the first time I heard one :o ;)
-
Or if you want to get reaaaaaaly complicated, use proper flash, create an action script that ties in with the PHP style coding of this forum and single out Clive in the script by selecting his name from the SQL DB. Sounds tough, but Clive's old, sudden shocks could give him a heartattack... ;D ;D ;D
-
I think that's much too complicated for most of us, Corky - I'll just settle for the satisfaction of having a constantly annoying sig! ;D ;D
-
I'm being very careful where I put my pointer now Simon. ;D
-
Yaboo sucks!! I've sorted it! I went into sounds in control panel and clicked "mute". I can now fearlessly put my pointer anywhere on the screen! ;D ;D ;D Sings to himself "Silent night, holy night, all is calm all is bright" ;D
-
Clive, you miserable bugger!! ;D ;D
Won't that stop all your other sounds as well though? Defeats the object of having speakers doesn't it? ::) ;D ;D
-
Yes it means I have no sound at all. ;D It's a small price to pay to avoid being banned. ;D
-
Well, sorry you don't like them, Clive. >:D >:D
It's the brunette's fault - it was her idea!! I think she should be banned for making our elderly members jump! ;D ;D
-
Just a thought, but isn't there some kind of command-line parameter for volume level that can be passed to the prog that saves the sound in your anim file?
-
Err... I think the sound level is governed by the recording of the .wav file, if that's what you're referring to, Rodders.
On my PC, the sound on my sig is actually quieter than those on Sandra's and Barra's, but I don't think there's any way to adjust it from this end, once it's embedded in the .swf file.
I would have thought the easy solution would be to turn down the volume of your speakers if the sig sounds are found to be too loud.
-
Clive, rather than messing around with the control panel mute, why don't you just press the mute button on your monitor? I think there's also a volume control there too.
-
Thanks Adept, I didn't realise I had one. ;D That will be much more convenient. It's not that I'm being miserable, but Jane started going ballistic with me as her computer is next to mine and she can't concentrate on her work. ;D
-
Sorry for causing all the trouble for you Clive ( I'm not really :P ) But I thought I was being quite clever to come up with it seeing as I couldnt even get Swish to do anything at all a week earlier ;)
Also this is THE FUN FORUM isnt it ???
You could always buy Mrs.Clive some nice diamond studded ear plugs for xmas,or get some of those ear defenders for when people work with pneumatic drills :-*
