Title: Speaker Configuration
Post by: Pwilsonscott on December 21, 2003, 14:52
I have surround sound speakers with my PC. (Windows XP) On Control Panel - Sound Effect Manager - Speaker Configuration, i select 6 channel mode and press ok.
When i play some games, the sound reverts to 2 channel mode ( 1 left and 1 right ) with intermittent crackling coming from the right speaker. Can i stop this from happening ?
Many thanks.

I don't have surround sound on my PC, but I do on my Home Cinema amp.  If I play a CD, or a DVD with just standard 2 channel stereo, the sound is mixed down to play out of the left and right front speakers only, so I think that's what may be happening, PWS, which you probably can't do much about.  Can't explain the crackling though, unless you have a bad connection somewhere.
