7/10 where 10 is the best ;) The celeron ain't the best, could do with more RAM and a new GFX card. Just my opinion as I'm a gamer :)

Depends what you use it for m8. I only use my PC for word processing, one spreadsheet, running Encyclopedia Britannica Multimedia Edition, and three or four hours a day at the very most on the internet. My Pentium 450, 128MB RAM and total of 6GB Hard Drive Space, is more than adequate for me.

Sandra you say the nicest things :-*

Nothing wrong with that system, now I'll take a guess, it was bought somewhere like PC World, Curry's or Comet. It's made by a big volume box shifter.
Celeron is Intels budget chip designed for basic needs computing see here (http://www.dabs.com/uk/channels/components/processors/productView.htm?quicklinx=2PFF) it costs £72 better to have gone the AMD XP2600+ route at £68 see here (http://www.dabs.com/uk/channels/components/processors/productView.htm?quicklinx=2CYH)
In the memory department it is upgradable to 1GB memory capacity, however the cheap skate maker has put 256KB memory in it instead of a 512KB memory module. So you either dump your paid for 256Kb or settle for a max 768Kb upgrade, instead of just adding another 512kb module to make 1GB.
Plus the cheap skate maker is using 64KB of your 256KB memory by using onboard graphics. Better systems have seperate graphics cards, latest Motherboards have 8xAGP. Another pointer to a cheap system is the fact that it only has three PCI expansion slots, and one of those is taken up with your modem, so really you only have two.
Is it a DVD/CD-RW combo not seperate drives? another cheapskate way of keeping costs down. And last but not least it is a 5400rpm Hard Drive as against the norm being the 7200rpm drives......
Having said that, I bet loads of people would love to have that system..............I hope you do not think bad of me....but you did ask ::) ;)

Now now Tony, why should "a.rowe55" think of you any differently to the rest of us, we all think badly of you :P
-
a.rowe55 you could commission "The chuckle brothers inc" to build you a new one. 8)
There a bit rough about the edges but their hearts in the right place and you wont get any unwelcome hairs in your case if they assemble it in their southern branch.. :slightlymad: ;) ;D

The lessons that cause one angst are usually the lessons that will best serve you in the future. I merely assumed A rowe was seeking honest opinion, so I gave it ;D and besides I have a characture to portray and maintain on this board ;)
Better to be known for straight talking, than for being two faced and patronising. But I know you my little liebfraumilch know and love me as ever :-* ;)
Cammy you are awefull.....but I like you ;)

I would also regretfully add that if it only has 3 PCI slots, there's a good chance that it doesn't have an AGP slot for a decent graphics card. Another cost cutting shortcut. :(

It has ;D

5/10 with 10 being the highest mainly becoz of processor,3 pci slots isnt much, ram+maximum ram aloud (1 gig aint much)and graphics card with me being quite a gamer :-\
