after reading this artical http://www.build-a-computer-guide.com/Choosingaprocessor.htm i found that after eading thwe bit about the amd nameing "For example the Athlon XP 2000+ will be roughly equivalent to the 2000MHz (2 GHz) Pentium 4. The AMD Athlon XP 1700+ is roughly equivalent to the 1.7Ghz Pentium 4." well i have got an xp2400chip but my isn't runing at 2.4ghz like the article suggests. but mine is rnning at 1.9ghz?

couls someone expalin to me i dont understand ???

Have you built or bought your machine?
If you have built it, the manual or cd that came with the motherboard will have an explanation of how to set the processor up, either in the bios of via jumpers. Also read the docs that came with the chip.
 If you have bought it pre-assembled ask the supplier what the prob is & get them to fix it.

I believe 'XP 2400+' is actually the model number, not the processor speed.  :)

Simons correct, AMD use model numbers not speed to identify their CPUs even the newer Barton 2500 is only around 2ghz, unless you overclock it.
My XP 2100+ runs at 1.7ghz, so yours is running fine as it is Mark  :)

Well its not really a mistake as such Mark, as AMD reckon that their 1.7ghz cpus work as fast as an Intel 2ghz due to the different way that each of them work.
So they call them by a number equivalent to the ghz of the Intel ones  :)
